Service Description

What if you discovered a new way to honor yourself or a loved one? Kasàlà, a vibrant oral tradition from Africa, is a poetic art form that celebrates self-recognition, joy, self-esteem, and the passing on of wisdom. Modernized by Jean Kabuta, it has become a powerful yet accessible tool to honor what makes each of us unique. A poem for yourself… or as a gift. This group workshop offers a space of inspiration and creativity to write a personal Kasàlà—a living poem dedicated to yourself or someone you wish to honor. It also makes a beautiful and meaningful gift: for a birthday, a birth, a wedding, or simply to express love in a heartfelt and original way. A joyful, accessible and empowering practice Kasàlà is for everyone. Each person is free to express it in their own voice, using their own experiences and emotions. You’ll be gently guided through the process, using simple imagery to create a vibrant and authentic text. It’s a liberating, playful, and heartwarming journey into the poetry of life. Why join? To nurture self-worth: By joyfully acknowledging your qualities and inner strengths. To offer a unique tribute: A poem to read aloud to a friend, a family member, a child, or anyone close to your heart. To enjoy a poetic and inspiring experience: In a warm, supportive and human-centered space. What we’ll explore together: - The origins and philosophy of Kasàlà - A fluid method for creating your poem - A moment of free-flow creation in an uplifting and supportive environment - A meaningful experience to cherish or share Writing a Kasàlà for yourself is a beautiful way to honor who you are. Writing one for someone else is a gift of light and love—a way to reflect back their essence with tenderness. This practice is perfect for life’s special moments, and children also find joy and confidence in creating their own Kasàlà. A workshop to reconnect with yourself, spark joy, and cultivate gratitude—for yourself and those who matter most.
